About us

The team behind Degritter started in 2015 with a clear vision of creating a practical record cleaner that:
  • is simple to use
  • would clean thoroughly
  • has great build quality
  • looks good
  • does not sound like a vacuum cleaner
And we are confident that it lives up to the expectations.

Degritter uses ultrasonic cleaning in a water tank followed by a separate drying cycle to provide superb cleaning effect. To create the best ultrasonic cleaning system we experimented with different frequencies, virtually simulated the energy distributions and made multiple physical set-ups to measure the energy levels. We built our own custom ultrasonic amplifier to power the system and spent long hours under a high resolution microscope to assess the safety of the device.

Degritter's distinct minimalist look was created in close collaboration between our team and an accomplished industrial designer to achieve a sleek product that can be proudly displayed next to a high-end audio system.

Throughout the whole technical design process we also paid close attention to the noise levels that the device will put out. For this reason we have created a unique pumping solution that together with silent dryers and inaudible 120kHz ultrasonics forms a product that makes almost no noise at all.

As a result of the meticulous design and build process we have come up with something that we can take pride in and feel that our customers will appreciate as well.

Kalver Sild

Technical Design, Manufacturing
Kalver is a brilliant technical designer who made the product's vision a reality by designing, producing, and fitting together the inner workings of the Degritter. If you can describe it, he can build it.

He is also into vintage Hi-Fi devices from 70s amplifiers to 90s CD-decks.
Jaanus Kalde

Jaanus Kalde

Jaanus is the author of our ultrasonic amplifier, a device that drives and powers the cleaning process. He's a guy with a vast hardware experience from space satellites to VR motion trackers.

Among other things, Jaanus has designed and build his own audio amplifiers.

Prototyping, Sales
Uku is a physicist with the ability to research and solve any problem he comes across. He worked on exploring and simulating ultrasonic energy distributions to achieve the best cleaning results. He has also created countless prototypes and testing set-ups to ensure the best product quality.

His trumpet solo was recently published on a blues record released on vinyl.
